Facts about blogs – Starting a blog is among the best things I’ve been able to try lately. I must admit it has not been an easy road though. When I was thinking of starting the first blog, I had so many thoughts in my mind.
As always we want to go the normal way and are hesitant to try out new things due to fear of failure and the risks involved.
So there I was thinking to myself what I was going to blog about, why would people be interested in my blog, what if my friends and family noticed that I was blogging and made fun of me in mistrust etc.
Facts About Blogs 5 Important Lessons I Have Learnt
1. Need to be original
I came across endless posts online talking about being original and at that time, almost everything I could think of writing about was already published online by some other blog.
It was so much to comprehend as during these times, if your friends can’t offer you answers you can always ask Google and get served with lots of information.
So yeah the originality aspect almost knocked me to the ground at some point I felt like giving up on the blogging idea. Another major concern was perfectionism, what if people didn’t love my way of writing, what if my grammar isn’t as good. The self-criticism was so loud at that time.
2. Motivation is crucial
Fortunately, I came across a video on YouTube on affiliate marketing. The guy in the video was talking about where to place affiliate links on a blog and almost at the end of the video he got so deep and spoke about the potential and how real the hustle is.
How you can start a YouTube channel or blog, and create content for months without any signs of results. Basically the point was every established YouTube channel and blog out there initially started from zero. Zero views, zero subscribers, zero likes zero everything.
Consistency is the only thing that does the wonders at the end of the day. I watched the video on repeat for several times.
This is because it was addressing what was going through my mind and I felt that it was speaking to me. I was hearing something I couldn’t hear from my friends or family on the blogging idea I had at that time.
Here are the lines that caught me the most: – “does blogging really work?”, “are people making a living out of blogging for sure?” The answers were clearly yes and yes.
The guy said that it might take more than 100 posts to earn the first $100, but are you willing to do the work? Because most people are not and I hope that’s not you.
The video got me highly motivated to a point that I made a promise to myself that I would start blogging and give it at least six months.
If I didn’t see any results after that period of consistent content creation and promotion, I would mark it done and kick it out of my list. Go try something else. But lucky enough, since then, here we are still going.
Been almost two years now still loving and enjoying the journey.
